Why Rheumatology Demands a New Care Model

Remission Rheumatology brings the principles of direct care into a field where they are desperately needed: rheumatology, where delayed diagnoses, fragmented referral-based systems, medication restrictions, and long wait times can lead to irreversible damage and lost quality of life. Studies show diagnostic delays of 6–24 months are not unusual in traditional systems. A 2020 review emphasized that fragmented care and limited follow-up contribute to poor disease control in autoimmune patients.

Rheumatology is Uniquely Suited to Direct Specialty Care: A Literature-Informed Rationale

Rheumatology lies at the intersection of diagnostic complexity, evolving therapeutics, and long-term disease management. The direct specialty care (DSC) model is uniquely suited to meet these demands. Emerging evidence supports the effectiveness of this approach across multiple domains relevant to rheumatology.

Our Role as a Specialty Innovator

Remission Rheumatology offers a different kind of care structure where thoughtful, expert-driven medicine is standard, not exceptional. We aim to demonstrate that when rheumatologists are empowered with time, access, and autonomy, both clinical outcomes and patient lives are transformed.

Why I founded Remission Rheumatology

During my medical training and early career, I witnessed how patients with autoimmune and rheumatic diseases often experienced delays in diagnosis, disintegrated care, and limited follow-up, too often with serious consequences for their quality of life. These patterns revealed a simple truth: individuals with complex, chronic illness deserve more time, more clarity, and more continuity.

My diverse academic path, from medical school to rigorous clinical training, exposed me to a wide range of complex pathology in underserved, high-acuity settings. These experiences sharpened my clinical insight and deepened my belief in the power of patient-centered care.

I founded Remission Rheumatology to reimagine what specialty care could look like: unhurried, collaborative, and deeply attuned to the whole person. Here, we focus not only on managing disease, but on restoring health, function, and quality of life.

We’re honored to walk with you on your journey, offering thoughtful, best-in-class expert care grounded in both science and compassion.

Focused on Remission. Committed to You.
